Hi, and welcome to my home
on the web. I'm a woman in my 50's who has been on a journey involving
energy, spirituality, and sexuality for almost as long as I can
remember being alive.
As
a small child, when my Mother put me to bed I often found myself wide
awake for quite a while. After she took away the flashlight and the
book, I had to find
other ways to amuse myself. Gradually I became aware of a humming in my body, and
realized I could move it around. I also discovered I could increase
or decrease its intensity by breathing faster or slower, and spent many
hours exploring this phenomenon in many permutations.
When
later in life I learned about Tantra, I realized I had been playing with
energy under the blankets!
Later in my teens I discovered
that a sexual experience could also be a spiritual experience. Because of that
realization I was forced to confront many of the religious beliefs that I had been taught
as a child.
Doing so turned out to be enormously freeing as I began to question all
that I had learned much more thoroughly than ever before.
This inquiry allowed
me to begin to create my life in a proactive manner, rather than living a life
determined for me by others and their beliefs and opinions.
My journey has taken many
off-beat twists and turns, and I'm sure yours has its own twists and turns as well.
Respecting your belief systems, I share my education and the knowledge I've received
with you.
I've studied
at and received my certifications in Hypnotherapy,
Advanced & Clinical Hypnotherapy, and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
from HCH in
Lafayette, CA, and received my Reiki I and Reiki II attunements there as
well. I am also certified in
Quantum Touch, which is a
form of energy work similar to Reiki and Regenesis.
I received my certification in sex education from The
Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality, a
graduate school in San Francisco.
Involved in behavior
training since 1979, I've been an initiated Wiccan Priestess since 1983, and a public speaker on
Human Sexuality since 1985. I've appeared on national radio and TV, including The
Alex Bennet Show, People Are talking, Pittsburgh Today, and Geraldo. Locally I lecture to human sexuality students at San Francisco State University, UC Berkeley, to trainees at national sex crisis and information hotline
San Francisco Sex Information and I speak at conferences and universities
nationwide.
I also
teach classes and
workshops in San Francisco at QSM, a women-owned
business that offers classes, workshops, and a mail-order catalogue of books and magazines
on alternative sexualities, The Society of Janus, a pansexual BDSM social and educational
organization, The Exiles, a woman-to-woman BDSM
social and educational organization, and at Good
Vibrations, a worker-owned cooperative store that sells quality sex toys, books, and
videos, and offers sex information classes.
Warm, eclectic, and
informed, Im committed to your process
What is The SpiralWay?
The
SpiralWay is my philosophy of life and spirit. I believe we are each on a journey that has many
roads, highways, alleys, dead-ends, detours, bridges, tunnels, roadblocks, and
straight-a-ways, all of which are there for our learning and evolution.
My motto: "Unfold and
evolve to your authentic core self" speaks to that process. When we are born we
are exactly who we each are authentically, at the center of the spiral. In the first
years of life events happen which seemingly divert us from our authenticity, but are
actually opportunities for us to refine and polish our true selves.
Our healing is not about
creating something totally new, but remembering who we really are and building on that
foundation. The spiral is three-dimensional, as not only do we move forward, but we
also return to certain issues over and over. However, each time we return we are on
a new and different level, with new and different tools, and a new and different point of
view.
Of course, the spiral is a
classic symbol connected with hypnosis. However, not only is it a tool for inducing
hypnosis, it also can represent the spiraling down into the subconscious mind that one can
experience when hypnotized, and the outward spiraling of ones evolving
consciousness.
The spiral has also been
used in artwork and spirituality for thousands of years. One of the five major
symbols in the world (the other four being the circle, square, triangle, and equidistant
cross) it appears in spiritual writings, fairy tales, and mythological stories in all of
our cultures. In these narratives it symbolizes the process of growth and
evolution. If reading about these symbols is of interest to you a book you might
enjoy is Signs
of Life by Angeles Arrien.
