This is ME PIXIE ME! (altho I really don't have wings, but I can fly on the inside!) |
Hi! This is my site for my Inner Child, Pixie (ME PIXIE ME!) She is a very important part of my Inner Family, as are Denise, Deon, The Biker Mama, Holiday, Sybil, and many others. Pixie is 4 1/2 years old, and on every birthday she turns "Five-For-A-Day." By this time she is VERY precocious, and knows it. But she's not a snob or a brat. No, I don't have MPD (multiple personality disorder), despite the inclusion of the name Sybil! Rather, as a very dear friend of mine (Daddy Bill) puts it, I have multiple personality order! All of us are co-conscious, and I'll bet you have something like this too. (If you don't think so, ask who's thinking what when you are "of two minds" about something.) How did I get the name "Pixie?" Well, when I was born, my Grandmother looked through the hospital window at me with all the other new-borns and said, "Look how her ears are folded at the top! She looks just like a pixie!" and that was my name from then on, no matter what it said on my birth certificate. I suppose if it happened today I would be called "Spock" or another Vulcan name. As I grew up, the ears straightened out, (although I reclaimed them in the '80's by having both ears pierced at the very top), and by the time I was 12, I was 5'8", very plump, and didn't look like the average person's idea of a pixie. However, I kept on using the name for it was an accurate representation of my spirit (and still is!) Art was always a safe haven for me, and a safe haven was something needed by a very tall for her age, overweight, bespeckeled, smart, curly-haired girl with a rash who's Mother dressed her funny! So I loved making fancy Valentines with paper doilies, every kind of sticker imaginable, and pop-ups (way before it became fashionable), cards for all occasions, my own wrapping paper, clothes for my dolls, and on and on. When I got my first computer, the second piece of software I bought was Sierra's Print Artist. I had so much fun creating cards, flyers, etc, that we decided to honor Pixie (ME PIXIE ME!) by calling our little design studio PixieCards, a division of PixieArts. And then I bought FrontPage 2000 and made my own sites, and so there now exists PixieWebs, another division of PixieArts. Creating this site is another way for me to honor both Pixie and Denise. Denise is the name for the 8 year old part of me, the part that has had the hardest time over all. She is much more shy than Pixie but no less an artist, and indeed is a major part of the "artists collective." So I want her to know I couldn't have done this with out her, and thanks, Honey, for all the difficult work you do. This is the Crest Mommy, Denise and I made for Mommy when she created Her bdsm household, ''The House of Holiday.'' On the right corner of the banner is a cat, representing our 13 yr old grey Tabby, The Little Queen, "KiKi," and also representing an alpha female sensibility. And on the other corner is a dove, whose presence represents our commitment to peace and all that it means. |
Pixie calls the grown-up part of me "Mommy." It has been part of my healing to be the very best Mommy I can be for my inner children. (As I said, there's more than one.) Some need more help than others. I bet you know families like that too! |
