www.TwilightBrigade.org  The site of Dannion Brinkley's Compassion in Action.  Through worldwide education and mobilization of trained volunteers, Compassion in Action provides a loving presence for those approaching death, thereby helping ensure that no one need die alone.  Contains resources, location of volunteers nationwide, suggested readings, an FAQ about death and dying, trainings, workshops, and some excellent links.

www.rivendell.org Grief Net. An Internet community containing over 30 email support groups, 2 web sites, support for kids, library, and bookstore.  A member of Mourning Light Grief Support Webring.

www.death-dying.com Contains message boards, grief support, live chat rooms, sections for kids only and teens only, near death experiences, how to start over after a loss, legal issues, and much more.

www.miningco.com  Type grief into their search engine and you'll find an excellent resource for dealing with grief and loss, and death and dying.  Many, many links for sites dealing with men and grief, women and grief, loss of children, how to talk children about these subjects, loss of pets, etc.

www.sfsi.org   San Francisco Sex Information.  SFSI  is a non-profit, anonymous, sex information switchboard which makes available basic, factual, non-judgmental information regarding all aspects of human sexuality to people of all ages, genders, lifestyles, and orientations.  SFSI provides this service free to all through a telephone information switchboard -- 415-989-7374 -- open Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm. to 9:00 pm PST.  The phones are answered by volunteers trained to offer factual information with non-judgmental regard for another's right to individual expression of their own sexuality. 

SFSI DOES NOT provide phone sex or psychotherapy.

SFSI also offers one of the best sexuality education courses available anywhere.

www.hai.org Human Awareness Institute. The Human Awareness Institute, founded by Stan Dale, offers weekend workshops held at Harbin Hot Springs in California.  These Love, Intimacy, and Sexuality (LIS) workshops, for singles and couples of all orientations, are also offered in Southern California, Michigan, the U.S. Northeast, England, Australia, and Japan.

www.bostondungeon.org  The Boston Dungeon Society is an organization co-founded by John Warren (author of The Loving Dominant, and various other how-to, how-to-find, and BDSM fiction books) and his partner, Libby.  Contains much info, many links, and a chat room.  

www.gloria-brame.com is exactly what it says, an eclectic site for literate adults.  Full of BDSM information, links, poetry, literary, miscellany, politics and technology, and ideas. Co-editor of Different Loving; 1996, and author of Come Hither, a commonsense guide to kinky sex; 2000, Dr. Gloria Brame is a woman that's literate and eclectic, yes, but also funny, thoughtful, kinky, and passionate.

www.crystal-bridge.com The Crystal Bridge is a quarterly on-line BDSM magazine that reminds me of the late lamented SandMUtopia Guardian. The news is updated more than every 4 weeks, and the rest are articles about BDSM and the law, relationships, techniques, D/s, etc.

A Power Exchange Resource Center.  Yet another gateway site for BDSM.  More info, links, and a chat room.  Also a bulletin board, interactive D/s mailing list sign-up (one stop sign-up page allowing you to join a variety of Ds related mailing lists), and a library with a very large selection of original articles (information for new submissive women, how-to's, etc.), and original stories.

This article, excerpted from a speech given by Gayle Rubin at the graduation ceremony for the Journeyman II Academy on October 4, 1997, speaks about the evolving culture of leather in the 20th century, and is in a magazine, Cuir (leather, in French, and it sounds like "queer") Underground, no longer around except on the Internet. Check out their other articles, written by some of the best writers in the Scene. Also has an updated current calendar of events for the Greater Bay Area.

www.ddimag.com Dominant Directory International is the best national and international contact magazine there is for quality Professional Dominant Sessions. The site is subscription based, but there is much to be seen for free.

www.theexiles.org The Exiles.  An educational/social BDSM organization in San Francisco for all (lesbian, bi, het, transgendered/transsexual living full-time) women interested in playing with other women.

Kink Aware Professionals KAP is the resource for people who are seeking psychotherapeutic, medical, dental, complementary, healing, legal, financial, and computer professionals who are informed about the diversity of consensual, adult sexuality. 

Lady Pyra is a spiritual, non-professional Dominant Woman in Kansas with some informative writings on pain, catharsis, aftercare, and healing.

The Leather Leadership Conference is an organization dedicated to
strengthening the SM/Leather/Fetish community through the development of the leadership skills of community members and fostering a greater sense of connection between and within community groups. The LLC hosts yearly conferences where attendees may share their knowledge and experience with one another, fostering a greater sense of unity and understanding within the community as a whole. 

www.leatherquest.com is an educational site full of information, including SM and the Law, writings about "The Old Guard" by those who were there, SM
and the News, and how-to articles on the emotional and psychological as
well as the physical side of BDSM. 

Masochism as a Spiritual Path By Dorothy Hayden, CSW, a New York-based
psychotherapist who specializes in the scene, fetishes and sexual addiction. The title says it all.

Master Romeo's Web Page of The Month  This month's, and all previous month's pages, pertain to some aspect of BDSM.  Updated regularly, they cover ground not addressed elsewhere

www.nla-i.com  National Leather Association-International.  A world-wide pansexual educational/political BDSM organization.  Hosts a yearly "Living in Leather" conference.   

The Newbie Pack  Contains answers to many of the questions Newbies (those new to the Scene) have. This is a collection of text files, most of which were originally posted on AOL message boards at various times over the years. These files
have been gathered together and added to over time into this D/s "newbie pack."

QualitySM, known as QSM, is a woman-owned business in San Francisco that offers classes, workshops, and a large mail-order catalogue of books and magazines on BDSM, spanking, domestic discipline, ponygirls, Fem Domme, Fetish Art (including some rare and beautiful imported Fetish Art books), rubber, and other fetishes galore!

www.soj.org Society of Janus.  Founded in 1974 by the late Cynthia Slater, it is the second oldest BDSM educational/social organization in the U.S.   Located in San Francisco, it is pansexual-for all  (men, women, transgendered, Top, bottom, switch, don't know, het, lesbian, gay, and bi) with an interest in learning about BDSM.

Gender

www.ifge.org International Foundation for Gender Education.  A very informative nationwide advocate and educational organization that produces a monthly magazine, TG Tapestry, and a yearly convention.  Not a support group, rather an information provider and clearinghouse for resources.  Contains a large bookstore, and many news items regarding gender.

www.isna.org Intersex Society of North America is devoted to systemic change to end shame, secrecy and unwanted genital surgeries for people born with anomaly of the reproductive system.  We are working to end the idea that intersexuality is shameful or freakish.  In the U.S. alone, five children are subjected to harmful, medically unnecessary sexual surgeries every day.  We urge physicians to use a model of care that is patient-centered, rather than concealment-centered.  The site contains several FAQs, a library, videos and books for educational purposes, a newsletter, and much more.

www.tgsf.org TGSF (Transgender San Francisco), formerly ETVC, created in 1982, is one of the oldest male-to-female gender educational/support groups in the country.  It's now open to female-to-male crossdressers, transgenderists, and transsexuals as well, hence the name change.  The largest single chapter TG organization in the world, TGSF offers programs and activities including monthly socials, monthly educational seminars, an annual cotillion, library, telephone hotline, newsletter, speakers bureau, and a public relations/anti-defamation program.  The site also includes photos of members, membership information, and a calendar of events.

www.ren.org Renaissance Transgender Association, Inc.   An educational/support site with support groups around the country offering a variety of programs and resources.

www.tgni.com/  Transgendered Network International.  A member of the TransGenderRing, a ring of sites all about transvestites, transgenderists, and transsexuals.

www.transgenderlegal.com is the site of Phyllis Randolph Frye, a transgendered lawyer in Houston, TX. It is dedicated to assist and accelerate the legal freedom of transgendered persons. Click on site index for a listing of articles.

ABUSE ISSUES

www.ascasupport.org Adult Survivors of Child Abuse.  Sponsored by The Morris Center, ASCA is a support group/recovery and prevention program in the Greater Bay Area for those who have been abused emotionally, sexually, and/or physically.   Organized within a low-cost framework, it offers meetings, workshops, presentations, socials, trainings, discussion groups, and a guidebook to healing, Survivor to Thriver, available only through the Morris Center.

www.thewitches.com/healing.htm   A Pagan site with a focus on two areas, sexual abuse recovery and bi-polar disorder, plus other related issues.  Links to other healing sites, and links to support groups and sites of those healing from sexual abuse.  I've specifically included this page for Pagans who are finding it difficult to find support because of the misinformation regarding Paganism.
