WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
HYPNOSIS
is a
naturally relaxed yet very focused state of awareness. Hypnosis is not going to
sleep, being unconscious, or being out of control. Yet, because of stage hypnotism,
and the way hypnosis is portrayed in movies and on TV, many are concerned that it is
possible to be manipulated to do something they dont want to do.
Stage hypnotists use
hypnotic techniques, not to educate or help, but to entertain an
audience. It's important to remember that those on
stage volunteered, knowing ahead of time that they would be asked to do something amusing,
silly, or even embarrassing.
As for the media, they are
also interested in entertaining the public, so what is presented as fact is often
fiction;
greatly exaggerated, taken out of context, or distorted in some way.
You may not know or realize
it, but all of us are in light hypnotic states many times a day. Have you ever
missed your exit while driving? And do you remember that condition just before
waking up where you are not asleep, yet not fully awake, and all kinds of creative
ideas are filling your mind? These are a just a few of the light hypnotic states we
go in and out of on a regular basis every day.
No one can be hypnotized
against their will, or made to do something contrary to their personal moral code.
As the hypnotee you are always in control. You can come out of hypnosis any time you
wish. Remember the last time you were so engrossed in a book or television show that
you did not hear your name called the first time? Little did you know you were in a
hypnotic state! But if someone had behaved inappropriately you would have responded
immediately. This is what I mean when I say that if you were to be given an
unacceptable hypnotic suggestion you would instantly come out of the hypnotic state.
If you have ever meditated,
gone on a guided visualization, tried a deep breathing or relaxation exercise, or
daydreamt, you are familiar with some various states of consciousness that are similar to
that of hypnosis.
The tool of hypnosis allows
the conscious mind, the critical mind, to step aside, thus freeing the sub-conscious
mind to surface. The subconscious is deeply intuitive and creative, and holds much
information and insight for us.
WHAT IS SELF-HYPNOSIS ?
SELF-HYPNOSIS
can be very
useful in treating insomnia, quitting smoking, and relieving phobias. Anyone can be taught how to hypnotize
themselves. This allows you to work on your issues away from my
office, maximizing your time and healing.
WHAT ARE HYPNOTHERAPY
and TRANSPERSONAL HYPNOTHERAPY ?
HYPNOTHERAPY is
using the tool of hypnosis for your growth and healing. During a hypnotherapy
session I act as a facilitator, guiding you to where you and your subconscious already
wish to go. Together we may first decide on the issue, procedures, goals, and
outcomes. Or, we may conclude to do something less structured and more
open-ended. Once we've chosen how we wish to proceed, we relax and set aside the events
of the day, and turn our focus inward.
TRANSPERSONAL
HYPNOTHERAPY is a process where you and I trust that you, not I, have the answers to
your well-being inside you. Transpersonal hypnotherapy allows you to access
that place and have a dialogue with it. Transpersonal hypnotherapy is the process I
use with all my clients.

The State
of California...
requires me to inform you that Hypnotherapy is a self-regulated and a
certified, not a licensed, profession. This means that I successfully
passed the 200 hour program, the advanced 100 hour program, and several 6
hour programs at HCH in Lafeyette, CA, and I am certified as a
Hypnotherapist and clinical Hypnotherapist by that State-approved and
licensed school. I do not do medical diagnosis; nor am I a licensed
physician or medical practitioner. I provide hypnotherapy services,
alternatives for people seeking to work with mind and body states that provide information and healing through states other than the conscious
mind provides.
